Interesting facts
During a 2005 trip to Bologna, writer John Grisham was so taken with Liano that he mentioned it in his book, The Broker, calling it a fantastic wine
This blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in vineyards averaging 15 years of age and yielding 75 quintals per hectare, is a wine of superb complexity and character. It ferments in specialised temperature-controlled tanks, with a lengthy maceration on the skins, followed by 18 months in 550-litre Allier oak casks and a further 6 months bottle-ageing.

Contains sulphites
Appearance: Intense ruby red with garnet highlights.
Bouquet: Generous and full, redolent of ripe berryfruit and sour black cherry preserves.
Palate: Intense, smooth, and elegant, with appetising tannins and fine balance. It opens to crisp sour cherry, and concludes on a whiff of blackpepper on a lengthy, well-proportioned finish.

              Where an icon is born

Sandy-limestone soils, exposure to the sun’s rays from dawn to dusk, and the elevation of these hills inspired Umberto Cesari to plant here the first Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards.
