Ca’ Grande

Where tradition grows.

Podere Ca’ Grande lies in the hills near the main winery complex. Its largely medium-textured clay soils yield two wines that are fitting representatives of our growing area, Ca’ Grande Sangiovese Superiore DOC and Colle del Re Albana DOCG.

The vines, mainly Sangiovese and Albana averaging 15 years old, are oriented south-southeast, which gives great depth to our Albana and significant structure and longevity to our Sangiovese di Romagna.

Grape varieties on this podere
Albana is the white grape most representative of Romagna; in 1987, in fact, it was the first white grape in Italy to receive the DOCG (Registered and Guaranteed Designation of Origin) designation. An extremely versatile grape, it can produce dry table wines or distinctive dessert wines, such as our Colle del Re.
Sangiovese is the most widely-cultivated grape in Italy, and one of its most favoured habitats is Romagna. Its early presence here is documented by a 1651 document in the State Archives in Faenza, where it is cited as Sanzuvesa. Today, our Resultum represents a Sangiovese di Romagna that is not only deeply traditional but elegant as well.
