60 vintages. A new wine dedicated to a man who made all his drams come true. Umberto of Umberto Cesari. The only name possible for it.
A new grape variety developed through research carried out by the University of Bologna Department of Agrarian Sciences, Merlese combines the finest characteristics of Sangiovese with those of Merlot. The 5-year-old vines are planted in medium-textured, limestone-clay soils and yield 8 tons per hectare. After a meticulous quality-selection of the berries, vinification and ageing in cement tanks and cocciopesto amphorae at controlled temperature. Then 6 months in bottle.

Appearance: Intense red with purple highlights
Bouquet: Broad, generous nose, with impressions of dark cherry and wild berry backgrounded by notes of spice, the gift of its Merlot parent.
Palate: Rich in the mouth, exhibiting great elegance, thanks to a tangy acidity and smooth mouthfeel, traits from both its parents. The tannins are pronounced but enjoyable.
